Campus Visits
While we are happy to answer questions about any of our programs via email and, with respect to the to meet with anyone who has been admitted to the program, it is difficult for us to meet with potential applicants or applicants who have yet to be accepted. We assure applicants that meeting with the faculty will not increase their chances for admission. As a general practice, however, faculty in the Program in Creative Writing tend to be available on Wednesday afternoons during the academic year and may be available then to meet briefly with persons interested in any aspect of the program.
If youl feel it is critical that you meet with faculty prior to applying or being admitted to the MFA Program, please contact the MFA program director. If you wish to email a former or current MFA student about the program, the program director can provide you with email addresses, but given that we have only six students in each genre trying to answer questions for our many, many applicants, we trust you will be respectful of their time.
We are unable to conduct guided tours of the English Department. You are welcome to stop by, however, and have a look around. Keep in mind that the Creative Writing offices are housed separately and on a different floor from the other English Department graduate studies' offices. We are on the sixth floor of Helen C. White Hall. If you don't see a dartboard and several glass bookcases full of our books and you don't hear laughter, then you are not in the Creative Writing suite.
If you are interested in getting a feel for the campus, the University offers free guided tours year round.
